About Us

Who are we?

Kannada Association of Greenville (KAG) is a nonprofit organization based in Greenville, SC. Upstate always had a community of Kannadigas who would come together to celebrate Ugadi or go out for picnic and such. However, there was no organization to provide structure or a platform for these activities. With this in mind, a few passionate Upstate Kannada families brainstormed the idea to form an association to welcome, integrate, coordinate, network, and unite the activities of all Kannadigas. The main aim is to preserve and promote the Kannada language, art form, culture, and heritage of the state of Karnataka in the upstate area of Greenville, SC, for the benefit of present and future generations. 

Dedicated Kannadigas of KAG have been successful in registering this nonprofit organization under 501c. The association completed 10 years in 2017. KAG has always been blessed with a committed, determined, and enthusiastic set of members who have tremendously contributed to growing this organization and spreading Kannada culture. 

Over the past decade, KAG has hosted numerous annual cultural events. The biggest of them being the UGADI celebration (Vedic New Year), which brings all Kannadigas and their family from the greater Greenville region and beyond. KAG has set remarkable milestones in terms of the variety of cultural programs, charitable activities, and support for local talent it has provided over the years.

KAG is a community that nourishes the feeling of “home away from home” for tens of thousands of Kannada patriots who have resided in the greater Greenville area for the last few decades. KAG also assists new Kannadiga entrants in Greenville with local information as needed. 

KAG strives for the betterment of the community and people of this region and wishes to grow as a strong cultural organization that can make a difference in upstate South Carolina.

KAG ಪರಿಚಯ (ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೂ ಬೆಳೆದು ಬಂದ ಹಾದಿ) 

KAG - ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ/ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಮುದಾಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ಒಂದು nonprofit ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಉದ್ದೇಶ greenville ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ನಡುವೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲಾಪ್ರಕಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುವುದು. 

೨೦೦7 ರ ಮುನ್ಮ greenville ಕನ್ನಡಿಗ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಕರುನಾಡಿನ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲು ಹಾಗು ಇತರೆ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಗೂಡುತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಈ ಚಟುವಟಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದು ರಚನಾತ್ಮಕವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಲು ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಾಗಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಾಗಲಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದೂ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಮಯ ಕಳೆದಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ greenville ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣನೀಯವಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿತು. ಇದನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿ, ಕನ್ನಡತನವನ್ನು, ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ಮಾದರಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿ ವಿಮರ್ಷಣೆಯಾಯಿತು. 

ಪರಿಣಾಮವಾಗಿ ೨೦೦7ರಲ್ಲಿ KAG ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಯಿತು. 

ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಧ್ಯೇಯವಾಗಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಅಮೋಘ ಸದಸ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ KAG ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ 501c ರಿಜಿಸ್ಟ್ರೇಷನ್ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಒಂದು ದಶಮಾನದಿಂದ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗತವಾಗಿರುವ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಎಂಬ ಹಿರಿಮೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರವಾಯಿತು. ಇದುವರೆಗೂ KAG ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು, ಧತ್ತಿ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಿಸಲು ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳು ಗಮನಾರ್ಹವಾಗಿದೆ.

KAG ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ, ತಮ್ಮ ತಾಯ್ನಾಡನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬಂದರೂ, ಕನ್ನಡದ ಕಂಪು ಸೂಸುವ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಆಶಾಕಿರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹೊರದೇಶದಲ್ಲೂ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಹಣತೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳಗಿಸಿ, greenville ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗಾಗಿ ಇನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಸತತವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗೊಳಿಸುವುದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಧ್ಯೇಯವಾಗಿದೆ.
